How I work
My training as a Counselling Psychologist allows me to draw on a range of therapy models and ideas including CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), Mindfulness, Systemic, Psychodynamic and Humanistic models of therapy.
The initial assessment is an opportunity for you to share your experience and discuss the issues you are seeking help with. Through this discussion we will decide whether psychological therapy may be of benefit and plan an intervention. This is open to review and my approach to therapy is to be collaborative and responsive to your needs. I offer both short term and more open-ended therapy contracts. Sessions last for 50 minutes.
As part of my regulation as a Chartered Psychologist I receive ongoing supervision with other Chartered Psychologists. All discussions are bound by the BPS code of ethics on confidentiality. Copies of all ethical codes are available through the BPS website www.bps.org.uk
I also work with children and young people, having completed a certificate in counselling children with Place2be and CPCAB. Depending on the age and individual needs of the child, I offer talking or play and creative therapy. All therapy with children is child-led, to enable the child to express their needs and feelings in a safe place and work at their own pace and developmental level.
